The company operates within the Science and Research sector.
Function as the project manager for activities related to the planning and execution of research tools projects from grant or contract award to product development, validation, product creation, mechanism of distribution and storage.
Work collaboratively with internal and external scientists to obtain a working knowledge of various targets and participate in structural decisions to facilitate generation of research tool (e.g., antibodies, assays, animal models) including coordinate technology transfer activities if needed.
Interact with internal and external scientific leads to understand their requirements for a research tool (e.g., antibodies, assays, animal models) to disseminate and partner with the right developers/vendors/CROs.
Actively participate in finding ways to improve existing process/mechanism in developing research tools and identify new ways to increase efficiency and production including vendor sourcing and cost reduction projects.
Provide project updates to Functional Directors and Program Officers to assure goal alignment towards achieving project milestones and timetables through ongoing clear, concise communication and motivation.
Work closely with Program Officers to ensure oversight of grants to individual investigators, universities, and other specialized partners; manages relationship and project delivery lifecycle from proposal process through post-award to close out.
Work closely with Scientific Leads and Program Officers to manage and prioritize the production schedule as it relates to deliverables and deadlines.
Organize and lead certain project and vendor communications/meetings, including recording meeting minutes, tracking action items, preparing meeting agendas, and disseminating project information.
Establish, track and manage project schedule/critical path activities, status reporting, and resource plan development to ensure projects are completed on time, on-schedule and within budget.
Proactively identify issues that may lead to scope changes, planning conflicts and/or cost changes.
Communicate risks in a timely manner and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies, contingencies, and actions to be taken.
Present the status of the projects to the senior leadership team as required and other MJFF staff on programmatic activities and progress.
Master's degree in life sciences, engineering or medically related field is preferred or a business degree, such as an MBA or Masters in a business-related area or Ph.D. in Biological Science (Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or related disciplines)
Minimum 2-3 years of technical project management. A highly organized, self-directed team player with relevant experience in product development in a biotechnology industry or life sciences, or technology transfer a plus.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc. and project management tools like Asana.
Flexible and able to adapt to a culture of urgency, resourcefulness and ownership.
Working knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies and methods for design and optimization of research tools and preclinical models.
Good understanding of what drives resource requirements. Experience outsourcing and managing projects with CROs is useful but not required.
Background in negotiating complex agreements/contracts such as Master Service Agreements, Material Transfer and License Agreements, etc.
Experience developing clearly defined project goals, create and manage task lists and establish appropriate timelines using appropriate project management tools.
Effective communication to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels within the organization and contract partners.
