Account Director, Consumer Health, Softgel Technologies


The Account Director, Consumer Health, Softgel Technologies supports Catalent s growth goals per the Softgel Consumer Health Strategic Plan.


Position Summary


The Account Director, Consumer Health is responsible for identifying, negotiating, and securing new development and commercial supply business for VMS and Private Label OTC products with new and existing customers, and managing business relationships with existing customers and drive revenue growth from assigned accounts.


The Account Director, Consumer Health will report to the Vice President, Global Nutritional Marketing and Business Development - North America


In concert with Catalent s Patient First philosophy, this position is key in our efforts toward continuous improvement of our processes & information which will allow quality drug products to reach patients safely and efficiently.


The Role (daily responsibilities)

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue business opportunities within assigned portfolio of accounts (existing customers and prospects). This includes but not limited to identifying key account decision-makers and influencers, preparing well for calls/visits, anticipating and addressing barriers; documenting and validating customer needs prior to presenting solutions.
  • In cooperation with Product Development (PD), Marketing and other site support function, prepare and present to customers quotations for product opportunities.
  • Cooperate with management, Legal department and Finance to prepare and negotiate development and commercial supply agreements.
  • Manage ongoing business relationships with assigned customers. Responsibilities include pricing, contract renewal/amendments, revenue forecasting and tracking, periodic business review meetings, and other customer service related issues.
  • Cross-selling other Catalent service offerings to customer as may be appropriate.
  • Participating in internal sales training, trade shows, and professional conferences relevant to VMS and private label OTC offerings.
  • Presenting information about Catalent s service offerings, effectively reflecting Catalent s capability to support development and commercialization of VMS and PL OTC programs.
  • Maintaining effective communication with Catalent s scientists, operations staff, project managers, and senior management to ensure that all account management activities are conducted in a coordinated, team-based fashion.
  • Using both structured (e.g., CRM, forms, reporting mechanisms) and unstructured communication (e.g., e-mail, phone calls) to assure that there is a detail-oriented approach to account management with rapid response and follow-through to customer inquiries, opportunities, and issues.

The Candidate (requirements)

  • BS/BA degree is required, while an advanced scientific degree and/or an MBA degree are preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in Sales and/or Marketing, preferably in B2B contract manufacturing space for pharmaceutical, OTC, and/or Nutritional products.
  • Proven track record with new account development; Proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize work, manage travel, and balance multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of cross-functional teams, and effectively interact with scientists and technical staff from customers and within the Catalent organization.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 60% to visit customers as well as meet with customers at Catalent's manufacturing facilities.
